News

We've uploaded
an alternate image set to our OpenTopic™ servers. The new
buttons have crisper shapes and are more suited to dark
backgrounds. Other profile, edit and email icons have also
been tidied up. To try these new images:
In the next few days we will update the style settings page to make it easier to switch between the image sets.
Have you created your own image sets? Why not share them with other OpenTopic™ users? Email us for details.
Our developers have been
working feverishly on the Pony Express OpenTopic™
release. In order to make sure everything was just right
the release dates have been pushed back. Everything is in
pretty good shape now and we expect to announce the first beta
release on the community.infopop.net forums very
shortly. Stay tuned!

Tip of the Month: Know Your Community Members
![]()
The OpenTopic™ application has a powerful member filter
that can enhance the return you get from your online community.
This tip includes some specific suggestions for making the most
of the member filter tool.
To use these tips, click on Member Filter link in your OpenTopic™ control panel.
Example
1
Find members who registered more than one month ago and
have posted fewer than 10 times. This would be useful if youd
like to email these members to invite them to participate more
often, or offer them an incentive to do so.
How: On the Member Filter page, look for the Joined boxes. For the first box set it to the start of the month. Leave the second box blank. Look for the Post Count boxes. In the second box, type 10 (or any other number of maximum posts you wish). Finally, click the Search button at the bottom of the page.
Example
2
Find a specific user. This would be useful if you wanted
to give permissions to a specific user, or needed to suspend
privileges.
How: On
the Member Filter page, look for the User Name box at
the top of the page. Enter the specific User Name, and click the
Search button. (You can use either the button next to
the User Name field, or the one at the bottom of the page.)
You can also look up a member by their email. Instead of
entering a User Name, enter their email (or part of their email
address) into the profile field.
Example
3
Find users interested in a certain topic. Say you
want to find everyone who is talking about your latest product
(in our case Pony Express).
How: On the Member Filter page, look for the Message Search box. Enter the key words (in our case "Pony Express") and click the Search button.
On the results page, click the "Select All" link then press the "View Selected Members As A Mailing List Button". You can now email these users with details of our new product release.
